How does BPC-157 work?
BPC-157 has been studied for several proposed mechanisms in tissue-repair models. One of its primary actions is promoting angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels. Studies have examined the related changes in blood flow and in oxygen and nutrient delivery to damaged tissues. BPC-157 has also been shown to stimulate the production of collagen, a key protein in connective tissues such as tendons and ligaments.
Additionally, BPC-157 has been examined for anti-inflammatory properties, with studies measuring inflammation and oxidative stress in various tissues.
BPC-157 has also been studied for neuroprotective effects, including endpoints related to nerve cell protection and repair.
Furthermore, BPC-157 has been shown to interact with the nitric oxide (NO) system, which plays a role in various physiological processes, including blood vessel dilation and tissue repair. Its modulation of the NO system has been examined in relation to blood flow and tissue repair processes.
While the exact mechanisms of action are still being researched, BPC-157's studied effects on angiogenesis, collagen production, and tissue repair, along with its examined anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties, may contribute to its research relevance.
Handling & Safety
Handle as a laboratory research chemical of unknown hazard. Use gloves and eye protection, avoid inhalation of the lyophilized powder, and follow standard laboratory handling procedures.
Reconstitute and store according to the product label. Lyophilized material should be kept cool, dry and protected from light; reconstituted material should be held at 2-8°C and protected from light.
The safety profile of BPC-157 has not been established. This compound is supplied for laboratory research use only and is not approved for human or veterinary use.
Summary
BPC-157 is a synthetic peptide derived from a protein found in gastric juice. Research has examined its effects on tissue repair, tissue remodeling, and inflammation in various tissues. BPC-157 may work by stimulating angiogenesis, collagen production, and modulating the nitric oxide system. It has been investigated in laboratory models of inflammatory bowel disease, joint and tendon injury, and skin wounds. Additionally, BPC-157 has been studied for neuroprotective properties and for its effects on oxidative stress. While more research is needed to fully understand its mechanisms of action and long-term safety in mammals, BPC-157 continues to be a subject of interest for its potential research applications.
